Kindergarten Committee

The Parent Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting, in February, and meets monthly.  All parents are welcome to attend these meetings. The Executive positions to be filled are the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  The Committee is responsible for the management and administration of the centre, as well as initiating fund-raisers and social activities for parental participation.

Roles

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction
  • Staff supervision, management and recruitment
  • Prepares and presents reports for committee meetings and AGM
  • Attends and chairs committee meetings
  • Ensures compliance with Associations rules and constitution
  • Monitors compliance of state and federal legislation, funding requirements, C&K agreement and affiliation standards
  • Authorises expenditure
  • Manages complaints
  • Meets with C&K representatives (e.g. BOC and ECA) and other stakeholders
  • Delegates responsibilities
  • Reviews C&K correspondence including C&K fortnightly eNews
  • Motivates the committee / parents / staff
  • Impartial
  • Encourages participation
  • Breaks deadlocks
  • Attends committee meetings
  • Assists with staff supervision, management and recruitment
  • Provides support and assistance to the President
  • Steps up in the absence of the President
  • Has a thorough understanding of the Associations rules and constitution
  • Accepts responsibility for special projects (e.g. fundraising and family events)
  • Meets with C&K representatives (e.g. BOC and ECA) and other stakeholders
  • Reviews C&K correspondence including C&K fortnightly eNews
  • Maintains a register of all correspondence including C&K correspondence such as C&K fortnightly eNews
  • Assists with staff supervision and management
  • Prepares, distributes and displays committee meeting agendas
  • Attends committee meetings and takes minutes
  • Prepares, distributes and displays committee meeting minutes
  • Has an understanding of Associations rules and constitution
  • Maintains member register
  • Writes any correspondence as directed by the committee
  • Acts as the contact between the service and other organisations
  • Supports admin staff to maintain effective and confidential administration records
  • Attends committee meetings
  • Assists with staff supervision and management
  • Has an understanding of Associations constitution
  • Reviews and prepares budget
  • Maintains and prepare true and accurate financial records; presents written income/expenditure
  • Keeps the committee informed of Associations financial position
  • Ensures all money is banked promptly
  • Ensures all cheques are signed/authorised in the correct manner; ensure blank cheques are NOT signed
  • Assists with administration of fee collection and records
  • Manages outstanding fees
  • Ensures all accounts and payroll deductions are authorised in the correct manner and paid by the due date
  • Prepares and lodges all financial statutory and government returns such as BAS/IAS and Workcover
  • Ensures the service is registered for GST and acquits any GST paid
  • Ensures that reserves are not used for anything not earmarked. For example Long Service Leave
  • Treasurer can not be President and vice versa.
